I'm blessed to live in a part of the country where all seasons of life are experienced. Last summer while out on a nature walk I spotted this deer grazing on the moist green leaves. It's not uncommon to see these ethereal creatures traveling in pairs, and they always seem to come out and make an appearance when you least expect it.

Everything comes alive in the month of June and it reminds me of my own humanity and the ecosphere I currently call home. The parallels call me to take notice and understand my place in it all. It's indeed amazing that life begins in it's lushness and fullness-connected to source. And, this life is imperfect in it's beauty and majesty.

For a brief and fleeting moment we experience life in it's most vibrant, most glorious state. Yet, before one may even recognize this, change moves us to evolve into something more intricate and faceted. This phenomenon is something we often perceive as lesser even as we become more.

We are brushed by the elements, as striations begin to take form and life leaves it's mark. Even as we feel the earth shift beneath our feet, we endure and endeavor, holding steady to what is known and familiar. Never the less, soon we fall, melding into the earth and changing form, back into the collective, with the others.

And there is a strange beauty in our demise. To become into the mystery, we must first wither, and we must first fall. Some of us fall in the warmth of the summer, or in the freshness of spring, some in the glow of fall, and some of us in the bitterness of winter. Yet, surely we fall.
